Appendix A: Food Diary Template
Keeping a food journal can be very informative and will help you identify habits—both good and bad Disposable Gloves Wholesale. It can also be helpful in determining food allergies or intolerances, as well as imbalances in the diet and possible sources of deficiencies or excess.
For one week, list all the foods and beverages you consume, and take note of the meals eaten at home versus those out. Tips: Record everything that crosses your lips! If you are at a restaurant and can't journal at the time, take a photo with your smartphone.
Having an image will help you recall what you have consumed later. Be as detailed as you can. Be sure to include any alcoholic beverages. I suggest photocopying the chart on the next page and keeping a few copies on hand After recording one week's worth of your diet, step back and look at what you've written.
See if you can spot any trends, patterns, or habits. For example, you might consider: How healthy is my diet? Am I eating vegetables and fruit every day? Am I eating whole grains each day? Have I included legumes into my diet?
Am I eating foodstuffs? How have I reduced animal sources? Do my moods affect my eating habits? Do I reach for unhealthy snacks when I'm tired or stressed? How often do I eat on the run?
How often do I eat alone, versus with others? How often do I eat out or pick up takeout? Once you've identified areas for improvement, set one or two healthy eating goals for yourself.
